Worsted Spinning: Strength, Smoothness, and Control - Alanna Wilcox - Fri. 7/31
Worsted Spinning: Strength, Smoothness, and Control - Alanna Wilcox - Fri. 7/31
Friday, July 31
2:00-5:00, 3 hours
About this class:
Worsted yarn is all about control. When you want smooth, strong, consistent yarn with crisp stitch definition, worsted techniques give you tools to get there. In this workshop, Alanna will guide you through spinning worsted style yarns using combed preparations and worsted preparation fibers. You will explore drafting techniques that support a smoother yarn, learn how to manage twist and grist for strength and consistency, and practice small adjustments that make your yarn more predictable. The goal is to replace guesswork with a process you can repeat. You will leave with a clearer understanding of what makes a yarn worsted, when to choose it, and how to spin it intentionally for the kind of project and fabric you have in mind.
