Saturday, August 1
10:00-12:00, 2 hours
About this class:
Step into the world of Farmer’s Daughter Fibers for an intimate and inspiring exploration of yarn, story, and creativity. In Wild Roots, Candice English invites you on a journey through the Montana landscapes, early farm life, and mountain life that shaped her creative path and the soul of FDF.
Through storytelling, hands-on learning, and a touch of color alchemy, participants will discover how nature and the human experience intertwine in the process of hand-dyeing yarn. You’ll learn about the Journey of Farmer’s Daughter, gain a behind-the-scenes look at how FDF’s yarns are created and learn how different bases influence texture, drape, and tone.
We talk about why gauge swatching is sacred and how to choose the right yarns for your projects.
Each participant will receive 6 mini skeins to explore fiber feel and blending techniques while Candice shares tips on mixing yarn bases to elevate your projects and create truly unique fabrics.
Whether you’re a devoted knitter, a color enthusiast, or simply curious about the artistry behind hand-dyed yarn, Wild Roots offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with the heart of FDF; where storytelling, craftsmanship, and the Montana landscape meet in every skein.

About the instructor:
Candice English is the founder and creative director of Farmer's Daughter Fibers, a hand-dyed yarn company rooted in Great Falls, Montana. As a maker, storyteller, and woman of Blackfeet heritage, Candice brings a deeply personal lens to the intersection of craft, culture, and identity. She believes that what we make and what we wear has never been just about fabric; it's about lineage and the stories we carry forward. Equal parts thoughtful and down to earth, she creates space in the classroom where makers of all backgrounds feel seen, sparked, and invited to go a little deeper.
