Socks That Actually Fit: Gauge, Measurements, and Modifications - Lauren Rad - Fri. 7/31

Socks That Actually Fit: Gauge, Measurements, and Modifications - Lauren Rad - Fri. 7/31

Friday, July 31

10:00-1:00, 3 hours

About this class:
New sock knitters are often told that they just need to know their cast-on number to knit a sock that fits or that the best way to adjust size is to go up or down a needle size. This outdated advice easily leads to frustration and ill-fitting socks. In this class, knitters will learn what affects the fit of a sock beyond the cast-on number, the elements of a well-fitting sock, and how to make sure their sock fits every time.

Note: as part of this class, we will be measuring our own feet and/or helping each other measure our feet.

Level: Intermediate

What you’ll need to bring to class:
Pen or pencil, a notepad or scratch paper, a measuring tape, approximately 100 yards of fingering

About the instructor:
Lauren Rad is a former lawyer turned knitwear designer who focuses on soft, romantic designs for knitters who want to escape the everyday. Her design philosophy centers on patterns that are just interesting enough to be engaging but not so complex that they lead to frequent mistakes. You can usually find her knitting socks in the sunshine when she isn't puttering about in her rose garden or hunting for sea glass.

Please note - Marketplace tickets are not included in the class price and will need to be purchased separately.

In order to allow our instructors to prepare for their classes, we are not able to refund class purchases if your plans change. However, we are happy to transfer them if you find someone to take your place!
