Herringbone Necklace Workshop - Ken Granich - Fri. 7/31

About this class:
In this workshop, you will be learning several bead weaving techniques to create your very own Snapshot Choker, a beaded herringbone stitch rope. You’ll have the option to complete a bracelet length project in class, or take your work home with you (along with a personal starter beading kit and instructions) and bead a full length necklace.

We recommend you come with a palette concept—whether that’s a series of photos, your favorite skein of yarn, a collage, a painting, anything colorful that inspires you! Ken will help you choose from hundreds of beads from her collection to best translate your vision. These herringbone necklaces become very personal as you intuitively infuse your world into them through color, pattern, and your own hands.

You will leave with a finished piece and/or the knowledge and tools to finish and start new works. No prior experience is necessary, but you should be comfortable holding a needle and working with very tiny beads.

About the instructor:
Ken's beadwork with Reiko Co. is inspired by nostalgia and joy and her aesthetic intention behind each piece is "elevated whimsy"—something playful that sparks your inner child, but still speaks of glamour. Each piece is lovingly designed and woven bead by bead by Ken in Portland, OR. When Ken isn't beading (rare!), you might find her plotting a murder mystery party, country swinging, or trying her hand at a new craft.
