Fiber Deep Dive - Megan Monroe

About the Class:
Have you ever walked into a yarn shop and been overwhelmed by the choices? Spend some time learning about different types of fibers and what properties they bring to yarn. This class will cover the basics from yarn construction, dying and fiber content. We will also dive into how wool makes it from the sheep all the way to the skein. Learn how to read a label, pair yarn to pattern and pick out the perfect yarn for the project you want to create. There will be lots of samples to see and touch ranging from wool in the grease to finished yarn. Each student will make a "fiber/yarn card" to take home that has examples of different types of fiber and yarn construction.

About the Instructor:
Megan is a Portland, OR based fiber artist with 20+ years of knitting experience. She is an ASI certified wool classer and self certified fiber nerd. When she's not knitting, she's running, baking or thinking about starting a band.
