Friday, July 31 - Morning

3D Knitwear - Olga Buraya-Kefelian (3 hours)

This class is part demonstration with AV presentation and short lecture about 3D knitwear in hand knitting approach, and all inspiration process. It will be part swatch-fest and all inspiration. Present my 3D design philosophy, and gearing to your own discovery of knitwear in a new light!

Skills needed: students need to know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off.

Skills learned: 
Introductory lecture on several basic principles of dimensional texture used in knitwear;
Learning cast on and bind off varieties for stretchy edging and its purpose for dimensional knitwear;
Learning to work partial knitting and short rows and their differences;
Swatching a series of techniques and reviewing all the possibilities; 
Make either Ginga Cowl or Moko-Moko Cowl or Goji Cowl;

Adventures in Natural Dye - Tamara White (3 hours)

Natural Dyeing is more than simply extracting pigment from plants and other dyestuffs. And it is also simply extracting pigment from plants and other dyestuffs! Learn about the world of natural dyeing -- from thorough preparation to foraging and gardening to use and care of your dyed goods.

This class takes time to cover the basics of dyeing and dye stuffs, but also explores modifiers and make discoveries beyond the curriculum. You will learn, through classroom experience, how to make numerous variations in your future of dyeing.

Basic Hand Broom Making Class - Rebecca Viets (3 hours)

Join experienced broom maker, Becka Viets of Hexagon Textile & Broom in learning hand broom making basics.

Students will learn with skills to make turkey wing brooms, hawk wing hand brooms. Class will also cover broom anatomy, lore, history, a demo and hands on broom making time.

Beyond the Basic Bind Off - Sari Nordlund (3 hours)

Beautiful knitting deserves beautiful finishing.

In this technique-focused workshop, we explore the small decisions that make a garment or accessory look intentional, refined, and professionally made. The class focuses on clean edges and finishing methods that enhance drape and structure rather than distract from them. Techniques include tubular cast-on, tubular bind-off, provisional cast-on, grafting with Kitchener stitch, neat i-cord edges, and polished button band approaches. Beyond how to execute each method, we will discuss when and why to choose one technique over another, and how finishing affects the overall character of a piece.

Bounce, Roll, & Felt a Bowl - Kandi Dodrill (3 hours)

Join us for a "kinetic" felting experience unlike any other! In this 3-hour workshop, we’re moving beyond flat felt to create seamless 3D bowls using movement, rolling, and—yes—hundreds of bounces! It’s tactile, high-energy, and a total blast.

Whether you're a fiber arts pro or a complete beginner, you'll leave with a beautiful, finished bowl and the skills to create everything from hats to cat caves.

Fresh Fair Isle - Mary Jane Mucklestone (6 hours)

Mary Jane's signature Fair Isle knitting class.

Liven up your Fair Isle knitting; spend the day exploring color and pattern! This course introduces the basics of color theory and how to use its principles to guide your color choices. Learn about traditional use of color in Shetland, and move beyond, developing your own color schemes. Analyze how different color combinations can completely change a motif's appearance. In addition, you will learn to identify what makes traditional Fair Isle knitting different from other world traditions. Knitting a simple stranded wristlet or fingerless glove will illustrate these new concepts. A full day allows students to knit a substantial piece, learning as much from their classmates' work as from their own.

Knit Your Own Sweet Animal Friend - Cinthia Vallet (3 hours)

During this workshop, I help you to discover the joy of knitting your own animal following my original method, without any seam, but a lot of love and fun. It’s a workshop to open the door to your inner child, an enchanting digression for your hands and soul.

Maybe you think it might be too difficult! It’s not and this workshop is here to get you started: focusing on the head of the animal - the step that contains all the essential - you’ll discover the construction and the techniques that will allow you to grow a sweet animal from nose to toes, directly out of your needles, in a fully seamless and flowing process.

Latvian Mitten Workshop - Lisa Sewell (5 hours)

This is a 2 part-class: 

Part I - Friday (10-1) we’ll start the first mitten – casting on, working the fringe, the braid, and working up bast the thumb. 

Part II – Saturday (1-3) we’ll complete the first mitten – picking up the thumb stitches and finishing thumb and finish with some additional techniques that students will find helpful in future two-coloring knitting. 

We'll delve into the world of Latvian mitten construction, techniques and design in this workshop. Students will use a finger-weight yarn sourced from Latvia and a set of double-point needles as we work on a set of mini-Latvian mittens. This class is suited for advanced knitters with two-color experience who are comfortable using DPNs working on small (2.75mm/US2) needles.

Students will learn the two-color cast on along with how to make the fringe and braid as we work our way towards the thumb opening. I’ll show how the top decreases and the thumb is completed – including picking up the stitches to mirror the palm-side of the mitten when the thumb is turned down to face the cuff.

Rag Rug - Felicity O'Brien (5 hours)

This is a 100% hands-on rag rug weaving workshop! Students will learn how to transform reclaimed clothing and textiles into durable, functional rugs using traditional weaving techniques. Participants will be guided step by step through loom setup, fabric preparation, color planning, and weaving methods suitable for beginners. The class emphasizes sustainability, creativity, and the satisfaction of making something useful by hand. Students will leave with foundational weaving skills and a completed rag rug.

Socks That Actually Fit: Gauge, Measurements, and Modifications  - Lauren Rad (3 hours)

New sock knitters are often told that they just need to know their cast-on number to knit a sock that fits or that the best way to adjust size is to go up or down a needle size. This outdated advice easily leads to frustration and ill-fitting socks. In this class, knitters will learn what affects the fit of a sock beyond the cast-on number, the elements of a well-fitting sock, and how to make sure their sock fits every time.

Spinning Texture: exploring creative yarn structures  - Susan Willsrud (3 hours)

This class explores spinning beautiful, creative yarns that step outside of the world of standard 2 and 3 plied yarns. In this class, students will have the opportunity to spin multiple different types of yarns that are both beautiful and functional. The class will cover several different types of yarns and techniques including: thick and thin, spirals, and two color crepe yarns.

Texture That Pops: Beyond Basic Crochet Stitches - Britt Garber (3 hours)

Make your crochet fabric come alive with texture, movement, and personality. In this hands-on class, students will explore a variety of textured crochet stitches and learn how to use them intentionally in their projects.

We’ll work through swatches featuring stitch families such as post stitches, bobbles, puffs, shells, extended stitches, crossed stitches, linked stitches, and single crochet variations. Students will learn not only how to make these stitches, but when and why to use them.

This class is about more than collecting stitch patterns. We’ll talk about how texture affects drape, structure, stitch definition, yarn choice, and the overall feel of a finished piece. Students will leave with a set of swatches, a stronger stitch vocabulary, and new ideas for adding texture to garments, accessories, shawls, and home decor.

Tunisian Crochet Lace and Cables - Natalie Thomas (2 hours)

In this class, students will learn:
How to use the basics in Tunisian crochet to work various stitches into lace and cables. We will create lace using strategically placed stitches on the FwP and the ReTP. We will create cables alone and applied.

Woolen Spinning: Loft, Coverage, and Fabric Outcomes / Worsted Spinning: Strength, Smoothness, and Control - Alanna Wilcox (3 hours)

Woolen yarn has a way of making fabric feel alive. It can be lofty, warm, and full of color depth, but only if you know how to work with the fiber and draft in a way that supports those qualities. In this workshop, Alanna will guide you through spinning woolen style yarns using a range of woolen preparation fibers. You will explore how different preparations behave in your hands, how to choose a drafting approach that matches the fiber, and how to adjust twist so your yarn stays cohesive without losing loft. The focus is practical and repeatable. You will leave with a clearer understanding of what makes a yarn woolen, when to choose it, and how to spin it on purpose for the kind of fabric you want to make.

Book Club Cardigan - Sari Nordlund (3 hours)

In the Book Club Cardigan class we focus on creating a beautifully textured, wearable garment with refined details.

During the workshop we will knit a guided cable swatch and break down the cable pattern step by step. The cables may look intricate, but they are built from simple, repeatable movements that quickly become intuitive. You will learn how to read the rhythm of the pattern so the texture feels natural rather than intimidating.

We will also explore the double knitted button band technique, creating a clean, structured finish that looks polished from both sides. In addition, we will discuss the cardigan’s construction, how the pieces come together seamlessly, and how the pockets are integrated.

Crochet Shawl Architecture: Shapes, Draping, and Shaping - Britt Garber (3 hours)

Shawls are more than pretty stitch patterns. Their shape, construction, and fabric choices all affect how they sit on the body, how they drape, and how they feel to wear.

In this class, students will explore the architecture of crochet shawls, including common shapes such as triangles, crescents, rectangles, bias wraps, asymmetrical shawls, and shallow scarf-style shapes. We’ll look at how increases, decreases, stitch height, gauge, and fabric density influence the final silhouette.

Students will work through small swatches or mini-shapes to better understand how crochet shaping works in real time. This class is perfect for makers who want to better understand shawl construction, modify existing patterns with confidence, or begin thinking like designers.

Customizing Socks with Different Heels and Toes - Lauren Rad (3 hours)

As sock knitters grow in experience, they often find that a particular heel or toe fits them better than others. For the knitter who wants to adapt patterns to use their preferred heel or toe, or the knitter who's still looking for their perfect fit, this class will explore several different heel and toe constructions, the scenarios where those heels or toes might be ideal, and how to adjust existing sock patterns.

Doodle Socks - Jamie Lomax (2 hours)

Doodles by Pacific Knit Co. are modern and whimsical colorwork motifs that enable knitters to design and knit custom socks! The Doodle Framework for SOCKS has 4 simple steps: 1) Build your Custom Sock Pattern, 2) Pick your Doodle Motifs, 3) Pick your Yarn Colors and 4) Start Knitting!

During this session, we’ll deep dive into each step and learn how to choose and modify your sock pattern, how to create your Master Sock Project Chart using Doodle motifs, and how to build cohesive yarn palettes that work for colorwork. Afterwards, you’ll have the confidence to create your own unique colorwork socks, which gives you endless customization with just one pattern!

Finish the Face of Your Knitted Animal - Cinthia Vallet (3 hours)

I welcome you to embark on a workshop dedicated to the face features of your knitted animals and to take time to dig into these details, often scary for knitters, but so important for the liveliness of your knitted toy, and the joy you’ll get from crafting it.

Become confident, leave the fear of not doing well behind you and embrace the joy of meeting your character for the first time, at a very early stage of the process of knitting it.

Goat Milk Soap Making - Kandi Dodrill (2 hours)

Escape the everyday and immerse yourself in the cozy, creative craft of soap making. This engaging workshop will guide you through the satisfying process of crafting your own natural goat milk soap.

We provide everything, including your own mold, ppe, and all supplies to create (over a pound!) of rich, moisturizing soap.

Plus, Customize Your Bar!

As an exciting addition, you will learn the art of wet and needle felting on soap using a pre-made, cured bar. We will provide colorful wool roving for you to create a beautiful, custom landscape scene or design that acts as a decorative, built-in wash cloth and scrubber.

Herringbone Necklace Workshop - Ken Granich (3 hours)

In this workshop, you will be learning several bead weaving techniques to create your very own Snapshot Choker, a beaded herringbone stitch rope. You’ll have the option to complete a bracelet length project in class, or take your work home with you (along with a personal starter beading kit and instructions) and bead a full length necklace.

We recommend you come with a palette concept—whether that’s a series of photos, your favorite skein of yarn, a collage, a painting, anything colorful that inspires you! Ken will help you choose from hundreds of beads from her collection to best translate your vision. These herringbone necklaces become very personal as you intuitively infuse your world into them through color, pattern, and your own hands.

Origami Knits - Olga Buraya-Kefelian (3 hours)

If you are familiar with 3D knitwear, you know there are various methods of achieving texture in hand knitting. However, in this class we will dig deeper on combining several of these methods in an effort to achieve an unachievable - use knitting techniques that offer elasticity and malleability in order to create structured crisp lines reminiscent of ancient art of paper folding, or any other geometric iterations.

Students can choose to swatch or cast on and put their newfound knowledge to practice by working on either YABANE COWL or COMPLEAT COWL patterns for making their own wearable origami accessories. 

Knitting Photography Workshop: How to Photograph Knits Beautifully with Intention and Emotion - Jonna Helin (3 hours)

Beautiful knitting deserves to be photographed with care and clarity. In this practical workshop, I share my approach to knitting photography developed through years of publishing books and magazines, collaborating with designers and photographers, and directing visual storytelling.

The workshop focuses on photographing knits in a way that highlights texture, construction, and mood — whether for social media, pattern releases, or personal projects. Topics include light, composition, styling, backgrounds, and photographing knits both indoors and outdoors. I also share clear editing guidance and hands-on tips for image processing, with a special focus on simple and effective mobile editing workflows.

The emphasis is on creating images that feel natural, timeless, and emotionally engaging rather than overly staged. Participants will leave with concrete tools and a sharper visual eye, regardless of whether they use a phone or a camera.

Rainbow of Kerchiefs in Natural Dyes - Tamara White (2 hours)

Create a rainbow of colors with natural dyes in this introductory class.

You'll start with pre-prepared cotton and silk kerchiefs and we'll concoct a variety of beautiful natural pigments to dye them in.

Learn about the basics of preparing cellulose and protein fibers for dyeing and how to care for them afterwards, how to insure the best saturation and also have a chance to play around with different fiber prep for different results.

You'll take home pretty kerchiefs and the knowledge and experience of natural dyeing to create more.

Use All the Colors: Tunisian Crochet colorwork - Natalie Thomas (2 hours)

In this class, students will learn:
How to work stranded, intarsia and mosaic colorwork in Tunisian Crochet.

Worsted Spinning: Strength, Smoothness, and Control - Alanna Wilcox (3 hours)

Worsted yarn is all about control. When you want smooth, strong, consistent yarn with crisp stitch definition, worsted techniques give you tools to get there. In this workshop, Alanna will guide you through spinning worsted style yarns using combed preparations and worsted preparation fibers. You will explore drafting techniques that support a smoother yarn, learn how to manage twist and grist for strength and consistency, and practice small adjustments that make your yarn more predictable. The goal is to replace guesswork with a process you can repeat. You will leave with a clearer understanding of what makes a yarn worsted, when to choose it, and how to spin it intentionally for the kind of project and fabric you have in mind.

Art and Allure of Shibori with Indigo and Marigold - Tamara White (2 hours)

Shibori is an ancient Japanese cloth-dyeing technique that involves the color indigo and fabric manipulation, such as folding, stitching and twisting fabric, using bamboo sticks, ropes and marbles. In ancient Japan, not many fabrics and dyes were used, the main fabrics being silk, hemp and cotton. There are many ways to create patterns using this tie dye technique, with each method giving a different result.

We will create our own designs in a variety of prepared textiles and offer dyeing in Indigo or Marigold, or both, providing you with a diverse palette.

Beginning Spinning - Wendy Clark (5 hours)

You've seen those folks spinning fibers at show and you think "Oh, I'd love to learn how to do that!" but you don't have a wheel. Here is your opportunity to learn some basic spinning skills on wheels supplied by the instructor. At the end of the class, you will have an understanding of drafting wool fibers and go home with your first two ply yarn. This is a wonderful opportunity to try spinning before purchasing a wheel for yourself.

Fair Isle Hat Design - Mary Jane Mucklestone (3 hours)

A Fair Isle hat is a MJ provides a basic hat pattern with multiple options to make it your own. Experiment with color! Go wild and invent your own pattern motifs—MJ will show you how! Decide what type of crown shaping you'd like. Lots of individual attention with group participation encouraged. You are welcome to arrive with a sketch of the hat you'd like to make, or just show up and be inspired by Mary Jane's samples!

From Pet to Patch: Turn Your Pet Into an Embroidered Patch - Sara Barnes (3 hours)

Learn how to embroider a portrait of your pet! Before the workshop, Sara of Bear&Bean will draw a custom portrait of your pet and a pattern for you to stitch on. During the workshop, you will learn beginner-friendly techniques on how to fill in the design with thread, paint-by-number style. No experience necessary and Sara will provide all of the supplies. When finished, the embroidery can be used to decorate a piece of clothing, hat, or bag.

Introduction to Tunisian Crochet - Lori Harrison (3 hours)

Discover the fundamentals of Tunisian crochet. In this class, you’ll learn everything you need to start your Tunisian crochet journey.We’ll start with how to cast on the foundation row and go over Tunisian crochet stitch structure before covering all five basic stitches and finally how to bind off.At the end of the course, you’ll have all the knowledge you need to begin your first Tunisian crochet project!

It's time to twist your yarns! Learn from Paul the basic skills of Latvian braids, and how Latvians use them in their designs. This colorwork class will show students how to carry, float, and twist yarns to make the iconic Latvian braid. By the end, students will have a sampler swatch to reference for future projects.

Rocsi Tank: A Top-Down Garment Construction Workshop - Sasha Hyre (3 hours)

This workshop introduces knitters to garment construction through my Rocsi Tank, a lightweight, textured top worked from the top down. Students will learn how to build a garment from the straps, shape the neckline, and form the upper body with underarm increases before joining to work in the round. Finishing techniques, including double knitting for clean, polished edges, are also introduced.

Sheep to Skein - Fiber Processing from Start to Finish! - Tazhiana Gordon (3 hours)

Have you been seduced by the siren song of raw wool? Maybe you wandered into to the fleece barn at a fiber festival and somehow came home with a bag full of dirty wool and no idea on how to begin processing? Maybe you’ve brought a bag in and finally come to terms with how daunting of a task it is and just want someone to hold your hand through it and tell you where to start? Then this class is for you.

In this class, we will discuss how to pick a fleece including what I look for in a bag of wool and how to assess a fleece, various scouring methods to remove lanolin and dirt from your wool, and then processing using a myriad of tools including combs, hand carders, a lock pop, and a blending board.

Small-Loom Weaving on a Bookmark Loom - Shannon Squire (3 hours)

Have you always wanted to learn how to weave? This little loom is the perfect way to dip your toes in to the wonderful world of weaving! Learn basic weaving skills on this wonderful wee Bookmark Loom. No experience necessary, we'll go over all the steps of weaving, we'll cover best practices, and you'll have the opportunity to play on your new loom, and hopefully pick up a new hobby. Plus, this little loom is reusable, so you can weave till the cows come home (and use up all of your leftover yarn to make adorable gifts for loved ones).

Visible Mending - Kira Dulaney (3 hours)

Visible Mending is a creative way to extend the life of your clothing and household items while embellishing them for a unique look. We will cover decorative embroidery over stains or patches, needle felting for woolens, and woven patches using Speedweve looms. After this class, you'll look at holes and stains as opportunities rather than tragedies!

Weaving Class for Children - Rhonda Fargnoli (3 hours)

Children will be introduced to the art of weaving and fiber exploration through hands-on making. Using small wooden looms, children will learn basic weaving techniques, experiment with texture, and create their own woven pieces. We will also explore natural dyeing, using plants and natural elements to color yarn, encouraging curiosity about color, nature, and process. This class emphasizes patience, creativity, and sensory exploration—perfect for both first-time makers and curious young artists.

This class is meant for children ages 5-10.

Wild Roots: A Creative Journey with Farmer's Daughter Fibers - Candice English (2 hours)

Step into the world of Farmer’s Daughter Fibers for an intimate and inspiring exploration of yarn, story, and creativity. In Wild Roots, Candice English invites you on a journey through the Montana landscapes, early farm life, and mountain life that shaped her creative path and the soul of FDF.

Through storytelling, hands-on learning, and a touch of color alchemy, participants will discover how nature and the human experience intertwine in the process of hand-dyeing yarn. You’ll learn about the Journey of Farmer’s Daughter, gain a behind-the-scenes look at how FDF’s yarns are created and learn how different bases influence texture, drape, and tone.

We talk about why gauge swatching is sacred and how to choose the right yarns for your projects.

Each participant will receive 6 mini skeins to explore fiber feel and blending techniques while Candice shares tips on mixing yarn bases to elevate your projects and create truly unique fabrics.

Craft without Pain: The Workshop - Andrea Lui (2 hours)

Ready to put the ideas from Craft Without Pain into action? Join Andrea Lui, PT, DPT—orthopedic physical therapist and author of Craft Without Pain—for a hands-on class designed to help you make the most of your new book.

We’ll start with an overview of each section of the book to help you understand how it all fits together. Then, we’ll go through all the exercises step by step, so you can feel confident doing them on your own. Finally, we’ll work through the worksheets together to help you personalize your self-care plan and set up your crafting routine for comfort and success.

Come ready to move, stretch, and reflect—you’ll leave feeling more connected to your body and better equipped to craft without pain.

Fiber to Finished Object - Making Intentional Choices in Spinning Yarn  - Tazhiana Gordon (3 hours)

The intention of this class is to begin the work of demystifying sweater spinning, by sharing the entire sampling process from start to finish, as well to have a conversation about what fiber types, including wool breeds and micron counts, lend itself to different garment constructions.

If you’ve ever wanted to spin a large quantity of yarn for a garment or larger accessory and have been stuck with no idea of how to start, you’re in the right place. This class will begin with a discussion about yarn construction and fabric drape and density, take you through my sampling process from start to finish, and then transition to a talk about grist, micron count and wool characteristics, as well as how to choose how much fiber to buy for a project. Finally, I’ll have several samples and knit swatches to share to being some dialogue about fabric construction and what helps the fiber shine.

Fur & Loop : Unlock Fun Stitches to be Playful with Your Knitting - Cinthia Vallet (3 hours)

When crafting animals and tiny garments, inventiveness is a great ally, and having fun is a must. This is why i spend quite lot of time browsing stitch dictionaries in search of new stitches to extend the possibilities and make knitting a playful moment.

With this workshop I welcome you to discover two fun stitches to add amazingly rewarding textures to your animals and their garments (and maybe yours of course if you scale up!). Most of the time, these stitches are perceived as tricky ones but they are not if you can see and practice them!

Discover the chain fur and the loop stitch: they are fun to make and as a bonus, they will invite you to slow down and take your time to create lovely knitted fabrics that you'll want to pet forever ! I used them for the hair of Forrest the bison (from my book Mouche and friends), the mane of Winston the lion (soon to discover in my next book) and Agi's vest, that everyone wants in its own size! Together, we'll swatch and discuss these fun stitches through a fun little hairy project.

Intro to Mosaic Crochet - Britt Garber (3 hours)

Mosaic crochet creates bold, graphic colorwork using simple stitches and clever placement. In this class, students will learn the basics of overlay and inset mosaic crochet, including how to read mosaic charts, manage color changes, understand stitch placement, and create crisp geometric designs.

We’ll work through a small swatch together so students can see how the technique builds row by row. Along the way, Britt will share tips for keeping your work tidy, choosing colors with enough contrast, and understanding how mosaic crochet can be used in blankets, accessories, garments, and home decor.

Modular knitting is a versatile and innovative technique that lets you build intricate designs from small, interconnected pieces. In this class, you’ll explore the core principles of modular construction : picking up stitches, joining sections seamlessly, and playing with colour and texture.

Unlock the secrets of lace knitting! In this class, you'll master virtually every stitch used in lace—they're all pretty simple. But more than that, you'll discover how these stitches work together to create lovely openwork patterns.

We'll demystify lace charts (yes, they can be tricky!) and show you how to read your own stitches as you work. This skill is a game-changer: you'll catch mistakes easily, knit with confidence, and truly understand what's happening in your fabric.

The Spirit of Cloth: How What We Wear Tells Our Story - Candice English (2 hours)

Every stitch, seam, and thread carries a story. In this immersive and reflective workshop, The Spirit of Cloth, Candice English of Farmer’s Daughter Fibers invites you to explore how the garments we wear and the ones we make become living expressions of who we are.

Rooted in Candice’s own Blackfeet heritage and Montana upbringing, this class examines how clothinghas served as a language of identity, belonging, and spirit. From the beadwork and hide garments of the Blackfeet and Plains peoples, each piece was made with intention, prayer, and meaning.

Together, we’ll discuss how materials, color, and craftsmanship reflect culture and lineage and how those same values live on in modern making. Participants will be invited to reflect on their own creative practices, tracing how their knitting journey is about far more than creating something to wear. It’s about honoring the stories we carry, the land we come from, and the threads that connect us all.

Tied Up in Style: Handspun Shoelaces and Cording - Alanna Wilcox (3 hours)

In this workshop, join Alanna Wilcox to learn how to turn your handspun yarn into strong, stylish cording. You will learn cable construction and use it to make durable shoelaces, plus other cords for drawstrings, ties, and decorative trim. You will leave with finished cords and a repeatable method you can use with your own yarn.

Woven Experiemnts - Hannah Watson (4 hours)

In this four-hour workshop, students will take a deep dive into materials studies on a small, handheld frame loom. Unlikely and sometimes non-traditional material combinations - paper yarn & pipe cleaners! - often lead to revelatory moments in the weaving process, and this class will serve as full permission to experiment with both traditional and non-traditional materials.

Portland-based textiles artist & instructor Hannah Watson will guide students through the warping process, weaving both one and two types of yarns at the same time, using multiple tapestry techniques, and adding in decorative flares like inlay yarns using your yarn scraps. Students will be shown how to finish off and display their small weaving, and will get to take home their frame loom for future projects. All looms and materials will be provided by the instructor, and students may bring additional yarns to weave with if they like!

Yarn-Wrapped Rope Basket Making - Shannon Squire (2 hours)

This is such a fun way to use leftover yarn to make something adorable AND useful! We'll use our time together to get started on our basket, cut/prepare yarn to make one, and start our stitching. These little bowl-baskets make wonderful gifts for your loved ones. Note that you likely will not finish your basket during class, but you'll have the skills and the knowledge to do so on your own time.

You Can't Go Wrong: Reversible Cables - Melissa Leapman (3 hours)

In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore cable patterns that look great on both sides. By the end of class, you'll amaze yourself (and everyone else) with fabrics that have completely different cables on each side!

All about texture: Fancy Knitting Stitches for Textural Connoisseurs - Ksenia Naidyon (3 hours)

Ready to spice up your knitting repertoire? In this workshop we’ll explore some of the more complex and intricate textures like Estonian braids, slipped stitch patterns, nupps, bobbles, and Japanese wrapped stitches. While preparing to work on a beautifully textured shawl, we’ll talk about nuances of these stitch patterns and the best ways to use them in other projects. If you enjoy a creative challenge and elaborate texture, this class is for you!

Camp Short Row: Part 1 – The Foundations - Vanessa Smith (3 hours)

Short rows are one of those techniques that seem mysterious until they click. Then you realize they're everywhere—tailored shoulders, comfortable necklines, or sweaters that don't ride up, just to name a few places. They're deceptively simple, and there are many different ways to do them.

In this class, we'll demystify short rows from the ground up. You'll learn what they are, why knitters use them, and where you'll see them in real patterns. Then we'll get hands-on: we'll swatch four different short-row methods side by side, compare how each one looks and works, and discover which ones feel right in your hands. We'll also cover how to substitute short-row methods when a pattern calls for one technique but you prefer another.

This class is perfect for knitters ready to move past the basics and begin to understand how to shape knitwear beyond increasing or decreasing. No prior short-row experience is needed, and we'll have fun with swatching, discussion, and Q&A throughout our time together. You'll receive pre-class homework by email four weeks before class starts.

Fiber School: Fiber Across the Wheel - Amy Manko (3 hours)

Based on an article written for Ply Magazine, we will explore multiple fibers of all types individually to experience how they behave ‘across the wheel’. In this class we will start in our comfy Merino box and then blast into the world of unusual fibers made by plants, animals, (and maybe even scientists!) discovering the attributes we are looking for to add some zest to our spinning and maybe even to blend with some of our favorite ‘wheelhouse’ fibers. Students are encouraged to bring blending boards and hand cards to experiment with blending fibers in the final portion of the class.

Introduction to Playing Nice Together: Combining Yarns in Knit Work - Lisa Louie (2 hours)

Join us in understanding how various yarns in different fibers, weights, textures, and colors can play nice together to easily make your wearables more interesting and beautiful. You will begin to explore how combining yarns gives you the ability to create stunning and interesting garments and accessories.

Origami Knits - Olga Buraya-Kefelian (3 hours)

If you are familiar with 3D knitwear, you know there are various methods of achieving texture in hand knitting. However, in this class we will dig deeper on combining several of these methods in an effort to achieve an unachievable - use knitting techniques that offer elasticity and malleability in order to create structured crisp lines reminiscent of ancient art of paper folding, or any other geometric iterations.

Students can choose to swatch or cast on and put their newfound knowledge to practice by working on either YABANE COWL or COMPLEAT COWL patterns for making their own wearable origami accessories. 

Painless Cable Knitting - Andrea Lui (2 hours)

Cable knitting doesn’t have to be a pain in the neck—or the hands! In this class with Andrea Lui, PT, DPT—orthopedic physical therapist and avid knitter—you’ll learn how to keep your body comfortable while tackling your favorite cable projects.

We’ll start with a quick review of upper body ergonomics to set you up for success, then dive into practical tips and tricks for knitting cables with less strain and more ease. You’ll learn simple adjustments that can make a big difference in how your hands, shoulders, and neck feel as you knit.

Picture-Perfect Intarsia: No Bobbins, No Stress - Debbie Stoller (3 hours)

Ever wanted to knit images right into your fabric, only to end up tangled in a mess of yarn ends and bobbins? Say goodbye to the frustration and hello to Debbie’s no-bobbin intarsia method!

In this fun, hands-on class, you’ll master intarsia the easy way while working on an adorable sheep motif. Learn how to create “infinity” yarn, seamless color transitions, and discover tricks to keep your work neat, tidy, and picture-perfect. No bobbins, no knots—just smooth, stress-free intarsia that looks like magic! Grab your needles and let’s bring your knitting to life!

Portuguese Knitting: From Basics to Colorwork - Ana Campos (3 hours)

Learn how to knit Portuguese style! Portuguese knitting is more efficient and easier on your joints, so it can help reduce strain and fatigue. In this style of knitting, the yarn is tensioned either around the neck or using a knitting pin. This unique method of tensioning the yarn allows both knit and purl stitches to be created with a simple flick of the thumb! In this workshop, you’ll start knitting a cowl that starts with basic techniques (Portuguese knit and purl), and then move to stranded colorwork. Portuguese Knitting makes it easier to control the tension of your floats, making for easy stranded knitting! 

Skill level: Advanced beginner and beyond.

Successful Yarn Substitution - Kira Dulaney (3 hours)

It can be nerve-wracking to switch the yarn on a project, but sometimes necessary. Learning how to pick a successful substitute yarn means you’ll never have to abandon a pattern written for a discontinued yarn, knit a sweater too warm for the climate, or choose from a line of colors you don’t like. We’ll talk about all of the considerations, with a special focus on fiber content and yarn construction.

Tapestry Crochet - Becca Denning (2 hours)

Take your crochet skills to the next level with our Tapestry Crochet class! Designed for crocheters who are comfortable with single crochet, this class will guide you through the fundamentals of crochet colorwork.

What You'll Learn:
How to read and interpret crochet colorwork charts.

Techniques for seamless color changes without fastening off.
Proper yarn positioning to ensure smooth transitions.
How to carry your yarn throughout the project for a polished finish.

By the end of the session, you'll have the skills to create a charming tapestry piece that can be turned into a delightful wall hanging‚ perfect for adding a handmade touch to your home decor.

The Mini Scarf Atelier - Sari Nordlund (3 hours)

In The Mini Scarf Atelier we explore how to turn your ideas into actual designs.

During the workshop we will develop and knit a mini scarf concept from the ground up. We will look at proportion, texture placement, edging choices, and how different stitch patterns behave on a narrow canvas. You can experiment with cables, lace, or simple texture or colorwork repeats, and learn how to balance visual interest with wearability.

We will also discuss shaping options, clean edge treatments, and finishing techniques that give small accessories a finished and professional feel.

This class is about thinking like a designer: how a simple idea becomes a cohesive piece, and how texture, structure, and finishing details work together even in the smallest format.

Tunisian Crochet in the Round - Lori Harrison (3 hours)

Learning how to do Tunisian crochet in the round opens up a whole new world of fun projects and colorwork. From hats to sweaters, a lot of patterns use Tunisian crochet in the round. Tunisian in the round uses a double ended hook and 2 strands of yarn.

For this class we will start by creating a simple coffee cup cozy. This small project will teach us how to work in the round without any shaping. After we are comfortable with the mechanics of Tunisian crochet in-the-round, we'll start on the hat where we'll learn how to do a magic ring foundation row along with in the round shaping. We'll finish the crown in class and you can finish the remainder of the hat at home.

3D Knitwear - Olga Buraya-Kefelian (3 hours)

This class is part demonstration with AV presentation and short lecture about 3D knitwear in hand knitting approach, and all inspiration process. It will be part swatch-fest and all inspiration. Present my 3D design philosophy, and gearing to your own discovery of knitwear in a new light!

Altering Knit and Crochet Patterns for Size, Gauge, or Style - Kira Dulaney (3 hours)

It can be hard to find just the right knitting or crochet pattern to fit your yarn, body, and fashion sense. We will go through common alterations including working in the round, changing stitch gauge and row gauge, adding or altering waist shaping, calculating rates of shaping for curves and slanted edges to adjust armholes and necklines, and changing the size of a pattern both in an easy way with limited usage, and more thoroughly. This class will be useful for anyone who knits or crochets garments or accessories, including those using handspun yarn.

Camp Short Row: Part 2 – The Fit - Vanessa Smith (3 hours)

Short rows are the secret to fit. Once you understand how they work, you can use them to customize and shape parts of almost any sweater—shoulders, necklines, busts, sleeve caps, and more! In this class, we'll explore the math and strategy behind using short rows in actual garment construction.

You'll learn why short rows belong in specific places, how to incorporate them into your garments from the start, and how to adjust when the fit isn't working. We'll also touch on how this thinking translates beyond sweaters and to other projects where you want to add curves, angles, and length.

This class is for knitters with foundational short-row knowledge—either through previous experience or Camp Short Row: Part 1—and who want to dive into construction and fit in depth. We'll work with real garment scenarios and pattern planning throughout our time together, and you'll leave with information and worksheets you can reference and use again and again. No advance prep needed; there's no hands-on knitting in this class. Just bring yourself, your questions, and (optionally) a pattern or notes if you want to plan short rows in a specific garment!

Struggling with too-tight bind-offs or messy cast-ons? Say goodbye to wonky edges in this hands-on class, where you'll master 14 essential cast-on and bind-off techniques to start and finish your knits like a pro!



Kick off with classics like the knit and long-tail cast-ons, the sturdy cable cast-on, and the elastic Old Norwegian cast-on. Then, explore game-changing bind-offs, from the stretchy suspended bind-off to the even stretchier Russian lace bind-off. he smooth I-cord finish to stretch-friendly variations. Finally, unlock the magic of the provisional cast-on for seamless joins, the tubular cast-on for polished ribbing, and the picot and I-cord bind-offs for a decorative touch.

Darn It: Repairing Holes in Your Knitwear  - Ana Campos (3 hours)

You got a hole in your beautiful hand-knit sweater, now what? In this workshop, you'll learn various techniques for visible and invisible mending, for holes of various sizes. You'll be able to use these techniques to repair any knitted item, from socks to shawls to sweaters.

Duplicate Stitch for the Win! - Melissa Leapman (3 hours)

Most knitters know that duplicate stitch can add color details on plain stockinette fabric. In this hands-on workshop, discover how this simple and unassuming embroidery stitch can hide a multitude of sins, from errors in colorwork, cables crossed the wrong way, knit/purl texture snafus--even sneaky finishing techniques--and more!

Felt Japanese Anemones - Suzi Chang (2 hours)

Japanese Anemones are late summer blooms that offer a whimsical touch to the last days of summer. In this class, you will receive step-by-step instructions for assembling the flowers and leaves, learn how to create realistic details through shading and shaping the petals, and learn how to wrap your bouquet!

Granny Squares - Becca Denning (2 hours)

These colorful little squares are a timeless crochet staple and can be turned into everything from blankets and bags to clothing and home décor.

In this two-hour class, you’ll learn foundational crochet skills including double crochet, work in the round, change colors, and fasten off. You’ll also leave with ideas and inspiration for turning your granny squares into larger future projects.

How to Doodle - Jamie Lomax (2 hours)

Doodles by Pacific Knit Co. are modern and whimsical colorwork motifs that enable knitters to design and knit exactly what they want! The Doodle Framework has 4 simple steps: 1) Pick your Pattern Shape, 2) Pick your Doodle Motifs, 3) Pick your Yarn Colors and 4) Start Knitting!
During this session, we’ll deep dive into each step and learn how to choose and modify your base pattern, how to create your Master Project Chart using Doodle motifs, and how to build cohesive yarn palettes that work for colorwork. Afterwards, you’ll have the confidence to create your own unique colorwork projects, which gives you endless customization with just one pattern!

Posture and Ergonomics for Makers - Andrea Lui (2 hours)

Soreness and stiffness can sneak up after long knitting sessions, making it harder to enjoy your craft. Join Andrea Lui, PT, DPT—orthopedic physical therapist and fellow knitter, crocheter, weaver, and spinner—for a relaxed, hands-on class to help your body feel its best while you create.

You’ll learn practical ways to improve your posture and setup, avoid common sources of tension, and try simple stretches and exercises to stay comfortable and pain-free. The class covers the whole body, helping you knit with more ease and less strain.

Sheep School: Fleece Selection, Scouring, and Troubleshooting - Amy Manko (3 hours)

Ever gone to a fiber festival, somehow blacked out and found a fleece in your car when you got home? Have you wondered a fleece show and seen an inexpensive fleece and thought “It’s so cheap! I could totally process that myself!” only to shove it in the garage because it was a daunting task and you lost your nerve? Join us as we discuss the what, where and how of fleece selection, and then practice scouring wool together. We WILL likely get wet, so wear old clothes, but we WILL have fun discussing methods for scouring and getting confident with the process of removing lanolin without accidentally creating felt. Students are encouraged to bring samples of fleeces in their collections to discuss with the class. Have a problem fleece you’re trying to save? Maybe we can help! Just need someone to ooo and aaaah over it so you get motivated again? We can do that too!

Swatching for Color and Texture on the Pin Loom - Alanna Wilcox (3 hours)

Pin looms are quick, portable, and fun, but they are also powerful little tools for making confident decisions about color and texture before you commit to a bigger project. In this workshop, Alanna Wilcox will guide you through creating four distinct swatches on a single loom by working in quadrants. This approach makes it easy to see how colors shift depending on placement, contrast, and value, and how texture changes the feel of a woven fabric.

Upping the Odds…and Evens: How to use a tiny bit of math to make your work extraordinary - Lisa Louie (2 hours)

Join us to learn a simple formula to add “wow” to your knitting and crochet by subtly altering how you vary using your colors when working stripes and pattern repeats. Turn everyday items into stunning looking art with easy changes in how you use the colors you choose. When you understand the concept, you can apply it almost everywhere in any craft or art.
