Unlikely and sometimes non-traditional material combinations - paper yarn & pipe cleaners! - often lead to revelatory moments in the weaving process, and this class will serve as full permission to experiment with both traditional and non-traditional materials.

Portland-based textiles artist & instructor Hannah Watson will guide students through the warping process, weaving both one and two types of yarns at the same time, using multiple tapestry techniques, and adding in decorative flares like inlay yarns using your yarn scraps. Students will be shown how to finish off and display their small weaving, and will get to take home their frame loom for future projects. All looms and materials will be provided by the instructor, and students may bring additional yarns to weave with if they like!

Level: Beginner

What you’ll need to bring to class:
Any additional yarns you would like to experiment with (optional)

About the instructor:
I am delighted to teach weaving at Flock this year!
