Maybe you wandered into to the fleece barn at a fiber festival and somehow came home with a bag full of dirty wool and no idea on how to begin processing? Maybe you’ve brought a bag in and finally come to terms with how daunting of a task it is and just want someone to hold your hand through it and tell you where to start? Then this class is for you.

In this class, we will discuss how to pick a fleece including what I look for in a bag of wool and how to assess a fleece, various scouring methods to remove lanolin and dirt from your wool, and then processing using a myriad of tools including combs, hand carders, a lock pop, and a blending board.

Have a problem fleece? Bring it to class. Found something you love and you want to show off? Bring it to class. If you have your own tools and you are able to bring that to class, feel free. I’ll bring samples of fleece to play with so we can all practice on and there will be a collection of wool from my own library for you to take home and enjoy.

Level: Beginner

What you’ll need to bring to class:
Students are encouraged to bring their own processing tools to practice with as well as fleece for show and tell.

About the instructor:
I learned to spin my own yarn in 2020 and since then, I've had the time of my life diving further down the rabbit hole of yarn construction and fiber craft. I am passionate about empowering makers everywhere to grab some fiber and begin the process of turning that raw material into finished yarn and then to a finished object you can take out in the world. Hand spinning has added so much joy to my life and it is a great privilege to be able to share that with other spinners and watch them light up as they master a technique or learning something new.

Please note - Marketplace tickets are not included in the class price and will need to be purchased separately.

In order to allow our instructors to prepare for their classes, we are not able to refund class purchases if your plans change.
