Intro to Two Color Double Knitting in the Round - Laurel Garcia - Sun. 8/10

About the Class:

The Dot Headband is an adventure in two color double knitting. In this class knitters will learn different ways to knit colorwork in double knitting, fix mistakes and more. This sweet abstract headband creates a fabric that is reversible so when you cast off you can choose which side fits your mood. Double knitting is a great way to knit color work without long floats, creating two sides of fabric that have no tension issues sometimes found in traditional colorwork. Students will leave class with all the basic skills to finish their headbands.

About the Instructor: Laurel is an avid knitter, sewist and maker based in the PNW. She enjoys teaching, especially the beginner knitter, building confidence through patient and thorough instruction. By teaching others the craft of knitting, Laurel hopes to empower students to cultivate a skill that they can use to uplift everyday moments, create community and find joy.

Skill Level: Advanced

Homework: Cast on 68 stitches with the Crochet Provisional Cast On, join in the round, and knit 5 rounds in color 1 in Stockinette Stitch. Then, join Color 2 and knit 4 rounds in Stockinette Stitch. 

Pattern will be provided in class and emailed to students 2 weeks before class begins

Required Materials:

• 100 yards (92 meters) each of sturdy aran weight yarn in two colors and of a similar fiber content.
• US 7/5.00mm 16"/40cm circular needles
• Spare 16"/40cm circular needle in same size or smaller than main needle
• Stitch markers, one unique from the others
• Crochet hook in similar size to main needle
• Waste yarn for crochet provisional cast on
• Tapestry needle
• Washi tape or highlighter tape
• 1 set of needle point protectors
